Jesenia is a Policy Manager at the Prenatal-to-3 Policy Impact Center. In this role, she leads the Child and Parent Health team in conducting rigorous research reviews on state policy choices and their impact on equity. She also contributes to the annual Prenatal-to-3 State Policy Roadmap. In previous roles as a public health researcher, epidemiologist, consultant and evaluator, Jesenia leveraged her background to build models of efficiency and effectiveness integrating holistic strategies improving health services, educational programming, research evaluation, and policy change to serve communities in need.
Jesenia seeks to bridge the disciplines of epidemiology, health policy & management and social and behavioral sciences utilizing multidisciplinary approaches. Passionate about making population-level impact, her diverse experiences have driven her program management capabilities leading, implementing, monitoring and evaluating interventions and programming across various areas including domestically at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a Data Scientist, San Jose State University as an Adjunct Professor, Tulane University as a Co-Founder and Co-Director of Birthing During COVID-19 and Monitoring & Evaluation Team Lead, Louisiana Department of Health as a State Surveillance & Compliance Epidemiologist, Mount Sinai Health System as a Program Manager and internationally at the Ministerio de Salud Pública the Dominican Republic as a national country Epidemiologist.
Jesenia’s foundation stems from her unique academic training experiences gained while obtaining her Epidemiology Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester, courses abroad at Oxford University & IES London, and her Master of Public Health Degree in International Health & Development and Certificate in Monitoring & Evaluation from Tulane University SPHTM. Jesenia resides in South Florida where she regularly enjoys spending quality time especially with her loved ones going on trips to the beach, doing yoga, kayaking, biking and exploring new places. She is also loves non-fiction writing, singing and playing with puppies.
