Preterm Births

A preterm birth is when a baby is born before 37 weeks of pregnancy have been completed. The earlier a baby is born, the higher the risk of health challenges. Preventing preterm birth is a challenge because there are many complex causes–including inadequate prenatal care, smoking, and consuming alcohol or drugs.
