Lauren Hecht, MPH

State Policy Analyst

Lauren Hecht is a State Policy Analyst at the Prenatal-to-3 Policy Impact Center at Vanderbilt University. In her role, Lauren monitors the development, adoption, and implementation of state policies related to health for families with young children. She analyzes policy variation and trends across the states and serves as a resource for state-level policymakers and advocates. Lauren also contributes to the development of the annual Prenatal-to-3 State Policy Roadmap.

Most recently, Lauren conducted state-by-state analysis of SNAP and TANF reform processes as a research analyst with the National Center for Children in Poverty. Prior, she worked at the Colorado Children’s Campaign, supporting a research, advocacy, and policy portfolio dedicated to improving the health, early development, and economic prosperity of Colorado families. Lauren holds a BA in Political Science from Colorado College and an MPH from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.

Lauren grew up in Richmond, Virginia and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. She is always looking for a way to get outdoors and enjoys running, hiking, soccer, tennis, and drawing.
