Jim Burgin
State Senator, North Carolina General Assembly Sen. Burgin is a longtime resident of Harnett County and current president and owner of C&D Insurance with two offices located in Harnett County. Burgin also serves as chairman to New Horizon Insurance Group and president of B.C. Property Inc., a real estate development company. He is currently serving his second term in the North Carolina Senate.
Rhonda Fields
State Senator, Colorado State Legislature Sen. Fields was elected to the State Senate in 2016, becoming the first African-American woman to serve Aurora’s concurrent Senate District 29. Fields is a champion of quality public education and helped secure nearly $500 million in funding for K-12 programs. She continues to work to expand early childhood education and workforce programs to prepare young people for a bright and successful future.
Barbara Freiberg
State Representative, Louisiana House of Representatives Rep. Freiberg served 10 years as Education Administrator for the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. In 2015, to get the School Board and the EBR Metro Council to work more closely on education issues, she ran and was elected as Metro Council Representative for District 12.
Elliot Haspel
Author, “Crawling Behind: America’s Child Care Crisis and How to Fix It” Elliot Haspel is a nationally-recognized child and family policy expert and commentator, with specialties in early childhood and education issues, as well as the linkage between childhood and climate. His writings have appeared in a variety of publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Atlantic.
Antonio Hayes
State Senator, Maryland General Assembly Sen. Hayes has represented the 40th Legislative District of Maryland since 2019. Hayes serves on the Finance Committee; Energy ad Public Utilities Subcommittee; Executive Nominations Committee; the Joint Committee on Administrative, Executive, and Legislative Review; the Joint Committee on Federal Regulations; and Member of the Economic Development Committee of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland.
Cynthia Osborne, Ph.D.
Executive Director and Founder, Prenatal-to-3 Policy Impact Center, Vanderbilt University Dr. Osborne is an appointed member of the National Academies of Sciences Committee to Reduce Child Poverty by Half in Ten Years. Osborne has extensive experience leading long-term evaluations of state and national programs, with the aim of helping organizations understand what works, and how to ensure sustainable implementation of effective policies.
Bridgette Roman
ReadyNation member; General Counsel and Executive Vice President, CCF Holdings, LLC. A ReadyNation member, Bridgette Roman is an attorney, currently serving as the Chief Legal Officer for Community Choice Financial (CCF), one of the country’s largest consumer financial services companies. Ms. Roman’s interest in issues having to do with children stems from her years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Hunger Alliance.
Joy A. San Buenaventura
State Senator, Hawaii State Legislature Sen. San Buenaventura was first elected to office as the Hawaii State Representative of District 4 in 2014. She was then elected to the Hawaii State Senate, District 2 seat in 2020. She is the Chair of the Senate committee on Human Services and a member of the Health and Commerce and Consumer Protection committees.
Dan Wuori, Ph.D.
Senior Director of Early Learning, The Hunt Institute Dr. Wuori oversees The Hunt Institute’s expanding work in the early childhood policy realm. A former kindergarten teacher and school district administrator, Dan served as the Deputy Director of South Carolina First Steps to School Readiness from 2005 to 2018. In this role he worked alongside elected leaders to develop significant, bipartisan support for early childhood education and system innovations.
